GUIDANCE

SUPPORTING YOUR STUDENTS

Connecting Cultures deals with complex, emotionally significant content. Students will encounter scenarios involving racism, Sorry Business, advocacy in difficult situations, and deep self-reflection. This is by design — but it means your role as a coordinator matters.

Before your students begin, we recommend:

RESEARCH

THE EVALUATION

Connecting Cultures is a research program as well as a learning program. Participating universities are contributing to a national evidence base on the effectiveness of VR and eLearning in building cultural responsiveness in social work students.

The evaluation adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining in-app data capture from the VR platform with qualitative insights gathered through student focus group interviews. Full evaluation protocols, ethics documentation, and data management information are available on request. Please contact the project team directly for research-related enquiries.

Connecting Cultures acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and gather. We recognise their continuing connection to land, sea, and community. Sovereignty was never ceded.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples visiting us today.
